Code Sets

EDR Logo
Code Sets contain permissible values, value meaning names, and value meaning definitions that can be used in applications. The Code Sets below have values associated with EPA Data Standards, with national/international standards, or contain lists of values commonly used by EPA programs. When you select a Code Set, please review the information provided, including the example list of values, to determine if the set meets your data needs. Then select download and specify the file format to download.

Tribal CodesAll codes associated with tribal entities that are recognized and eligible for funding and services from the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) by virtue of their status as Indian tribes. Metropolitan Statistical AreasAll geographical areas defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for statistical purposes, as having a core area containing a large population nucleus that integrate economically and socially with adjacent communities.
North American Industry Classification SystemA standard base for the classification of economic activities of a business establishment, adopted by Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. in 1997.
Standard Industrial Classification CodesA standard base for the classification of the economic activities of business establishments, based on the 1987 Standard Industrial Classification for Establishments.
